Okay, Americans love movies and we love to look good too, right? I found some lists of favorite movies about style and fashion and, curated a YouTube list of trailers as well (see below). Have fun at the movies and let me know the ones I missed.

- 2. Grace from Dogville has a list of 56! of her favorite fashion movies on her IMDB page.
- 3. 45 Iconic Fashion Films from Stylist.Co.UK…even Blade Runner made it.
- 4. Yes, Grease made the list from Harper’s Bazaar of the 16 Best Fashion Movies on Netflix
- 5. Pop Sugar chimes in with Ten Films about the Fashion Industry including Valentino the Last Emperor.
- 6. Of course, GQ has an opinion with The 25 Most Stylish Films of All Time starting with Three Days of the Condor.
- 7. BFI has 10 Great Films About Fashion which includes Fassbender’s, The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant, and Wim Wender’s Notebooks on Cities and Clothes.
- 8. Pretty in Pink made The Huffington Posts list of The Best Fashion Movies for Education and Inspiration.
- 9. Hollywood.com has 20 Movies Every Fashion Lover Needs to Watch which has Gilberto Gazcon’s Rage starring Glenn Ford and Stella Stevens as well as Priceless from Pierre Salvadori.
- 10. Natasha Wood at MyLusciousLife.com has a list of over 50 films with a fashion influence going back to Top Hat made in 1935. She does us a favor and whittles that down to her Top Ten which the Audrey Hepburn double slam of Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Funny Face.
- 11. Stylebop.com’s Fashion director, Leila Yavari, penned a guest blog post at ELLE.com titled 8 of the most inspiring fashion films of all time. Included are Blow-Up, Possession, Heathers, and The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover of which Jean Paul Gaultier was on set.
- 12. Becca Endicott at Stylecaster shares her thoughts with 50 Movies Every Fashion Lover Should Watch. Bonnie and Clyde and Jean-Luc Godard’s, Breathless, made her list as well as Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic, Cleopatra.
- 13. Alexia Gonzalez’s recommended films for fashionistas mentions Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorfs about the legendary Bergdorf Goodman’s store where Kareen Mallett of Zindigo’s management served at one time.
- 14. Harpers Bazaar is back on the list with The Best Fashion Movies from the Sixties of which they determined Rosemary’s Baby, Valley of the Dolls, and The Birds from Alfred Hitchcock deserved inclusion.
- 15. Claudia Baroncelli at Swide.com chimed in with her choices of the Ten Best Fashion Movies To Watch with the most recent being 2014’s Yves Saint-Laurent from Jalil Lespert. Robert Altman’s Pret-a-Porter made the cut too and after learning that Sophia Loren, Kim Basinger, and Marcello Mastroianni make cameos, I may have to watch it soon.
- 16. The UK’s version of Marie Claire has an article, 25 Iconic Fashion Moments in Film that lists Keira Knightley’s wardrobe from Atonement specifically an emerald gown made of silk by designer Jacqueline Durran. This dress was voted the best film costume of all time by Sky Movies and readers of In Style. WHAT !?! No, Ursula Andress in Dr. No ?!?…YES!!!
- 17. Mr. Brad Goreski has a short but entertaining post about what movies that most inspire him in a fashion sense. One of my favorites, Sixteen Candles with the incomparable, Long Duck Dong, was noted as well as Pretty In Pink….isn’t she? Mahogany was #1 which also was a killer title tune.
- 18. Kristin Anderson of Style.com sticks to just Robert Altman films and shares 15 looks from his women in films like Nashville, 3 Women, and The Long Goodbye….nice big photos too.
- 19. Best Movies by Farr gives us 11 Films That Are Always in Fashion such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Breathless, and The Thomas Crown Affair with Steve McQueen
- 20. Drew Hereford at Moda and Estilo gives us 21 of the Best Fashion Moments from Seventies Motion Pictures. Julie Christie in Shampoo, Pam Grier in Coffy, Bo Derek in 10, Olivia Newton-John black leather in Grease, and Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher, from Star Wars were deservedly on his list.
- 21. This is an excellent read from Booth Moore of the LA Times about Turner Classic Movies choices (with a little help from friends, Manolo Blahnik and fellow designer, Todd Oldham, for its favorite fashion films.)
- 22. Meredith Woerner at io9.com provides 15 of the best James Bond fashion moments including one I’d forgotten about: the lounge scene from Moonraker while offsetting it with some truly questionable stylish disasters from the same series. The light blue terry cloth jumper that Alpha Male Sean Connery’s Bond had to wear will ruin your sleep.

- 23. Fabulous Muses crafted a list of their Ten Best Fashion Movies with a mention of Karl Lagerfeld Confidential which was culled from over three hundred hours of film. Coco Before Chanel and Diana Vreeland – The Eye Has To Travel are here too.
- 24. Styleite.com mentions one of my favorites, The Untouchables, along with All About Eve, Double Indemnity, and Marilyn Monroe’s, The Seven Year Itch among its 18 Iconic Fashion Movies on Netflix.
